AMU professor faces suspension for having sex with same-sex partner

Lucknow: Though he teach students for bring morality in their lives, but himself caught on camera of having sexual relations with same sex. An Aligarh Muslim University professor, who is all about to retire very soon, was suspended as some students trap him in cameras for having consensual sex with a rickshaw-puller in his campus home. The students have sent the whole footage to the universities authorities.

Dr Shrinivas Ramchandra Siras, reader and chairman of Modern Indian Languages at AMU, who caught in tape, asserted that he is not going to challenge his suspension, and would take voluntarily leave.

The whole incident has shocked the authorities and it is much reprieve for them as well, as the professor himself ready to quit, and suspension has been order to cover the face of the University. The matter is in itself a question of gay rights as it is not an offence for having sex from the same –sex partner.

Siras's decision not to question his suspension has come as a relief to AMU authorities, who are more than keen to bury the ``embarrassing episode'' as it could raise a serious issue of gay rights on the campus since the professor wasn't accused of any wrongdoing or criminal action. Consensual sex with a same-sex partner isn't a crime in itself.

The University’s public relation officer affirmed that it was unacceptable as he captured on record, and none of the institution which is highly acclaimed, to bear with. In the wake of it  he placed under suspension on February 9 by the order of the VC, Prof P K Abdul Azis.

\"He was also the chairman (head) of the department. Due to the suspension, he will no longer be a member of the selection committee of the teachers which will be held in a week or so. Many people link his suspension with the \'politics of the selection committee\'. \" - In cochin University of Science & Technology (CUSAT) there was a programme run under the funding of netherlands government a few years back which was known as MHO programme. Large scale corruption took place in that and many fund went into personal accounts. Then DEAN science and syndicate member Dr. Rajappan Nair was made a one man enquiry committee. He brought out a report about the corruption. When his syndicate membership expired (dean hold syndicate membership for 2 years and it is rotated among deans) the syndicate was now and then mention about taking up the MHO report and conducting a VIGILANCE ENQUIRY on it. but nothing happpened. Dr. Rajappan Nair again became DEAN and he was about to become syndicate member with in a years time. It was quite sure thet he will raise the MHO issue again. At that time Dr. Azis was VC. On false grounds Azis removed Dr. Rajappan Nair from DEAN ship violating rules. VC can nominate a DEAN but VC has no authority to remove a DEAN. Azis is good at finding crooked and illegal ways to make his aim a success.

It must be enquired why Dr. Azis did not rent a huse outside campus and lived in with a low level officer (registrar) ? Administratively it was not advisable that VC staying with the registrar. There will be some other attraction. As claimed by the VC, the whole of the VC quarter was not gutted and only a portion was gutted and there was enough room to live in for a person whose wife and children are not staying with him. With wife living with him Dr. Azis will be a sexually starved person and he would have resoted measures to feed himself with sex. Definitely somebody had trapped the reader who was enjoying the privacy of his house. He must have kept the doors open waiting for somebody; and not the camera team.

Dr. P.K. Abdul Azis claims the calm atmosphere in the campus to his credit. Will he accept this also to his contribution that he promotoed gayism in the campus ? Nobody will engage in sexual activities keeping the doors and windows open. The claim of having a tape itself will be a hoax to divert attention. We can notice that there was a website for the first enquiry and some information was published there. Now many days have passed after the second enquiry order. Nothing coming up. Looks like there a plan to delay the enquiry till the Azis's term expires and to say after all he is retired, why should we ?

Basically suspension of Prof Siras is an attempt on the part of corruption tainted Dr P K Abdul Azis, Vice Chancellor, Aligarh Muslim University and former VC, Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) to divert attention away from the ongoing fact finding inquiry ordered by the President of India to probe allegation of large scale corruption against Dr Azis, VC. All talk if students entering the home of Prof Siras are lies. No student of AMU has the guts to enter the residence of teacher with a camera. And no teacher is that fool that he would allow people to film him while he is having consensual sex. In fact, the AMU administration itself appears to be deeply involved in this episode. It is mainly driven by departmental and university politics. A high powered probe would unravel that people close to the person who has been handed over the charge of Chairman (who is a close confidante of Dr Azis) after unlawful suspension of Prof Siras were involved. Even the report of Principal Accountant General (Audit), Uttar Pradesh, Allahabad, sent vide AB(C) 09-10/249 dt. 17.11.2009 to Ministry of HRD acknowledges in unequivocal terms the financial irregularities in the university and charges the VC too of indulging in financial irregularity and contains “There is a complete collapse of financial management in the university and the VC [Dr P K Abdul Azis] and the Registrar [Prof. V K Abdul Jaleel] instead of stopping this frequent financial irregularity themselves became a part of this,”. The report relating to tenure of Dr Azis as VC of CUSAT and submitted by Finance Inspection Wing of Government of Kerala sent by the Principal Secretary to Government to The Registrar, Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT), Kochi, vide No. 11244/B2/08/H.Edn dt. 25.04.2008 again clearly mention that “Strict disciplinary action should be initiated against the VC, Dr P. K. Abdul Aziz for his lapses”. So Poor Prof Siras has been made a scapegoat.

Re: Dear Sachin, Law allows consenting adults to have sex in the safe confines of their home. Prof Siras was in his own home and not in AMU classroom or office!
