Jammu: Taking a serious note of the post on a popular social networking site that showed Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, his father Farooq Abdullah and grandfather late Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, as '3 Idiots', the National Conference today sought apology from Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Mehbooba Mufti, from whose account it was forwarded.
''It was ridiculous. J and K is a sensitive state and the politicians here, have to be very careful before issuing any statement; but with the issue, raised by the PDP president, the situation in the state can go berserk,'' state Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather, flanked by senior National Conference leaders and legislators told reporters at a press conference here this evening.
Mr Rather said that Ms Mufti should tender an apology to the National Conference for tarnishing the image of the Abdullah family on Facebook.
''She should ask for apology or face action. If she fails to do so, a legal action would be taken against her,'' he added.
''Her attitude reflects her frustration. It is mere frustration of the PDP leader, who after losing the power is not in a normal state of mind whereby she could judge the difference between the right and wrong,'' he alleged,'' he said.
''The Chief Minister has appealed to the people of the state to maintain calm. However, Ms Mehbooba is not aware of the consequences as the incident can worsen the situation in the state,'' the Minister said.
''We condemn the act and if required, legal action can also be taken against the PDP president,'' Mr Rather said adding, ''it is a creation of an alien mind.''
