Gunmen attacks migrant worker in Manipur

Imphal: A non-Manipuri persons was seriously injured when he was shot at by gunmen in the outskirts of Imphal, Manipur.

The injured non-Manipuri grocery items hawker has been admitted to JN Hospital in serious condition after unidentified armed persons shot at him today.

The latest incident which has come just a few days after one non-Manipuri migrant worker was shot dead at Takyel, took place at Lamlai Bazar under Lamlai Police Station at around 1.45 pm today.

The injured victim has been identified as Shankar Sahu (24) s/o Hiralal Sahu of Rohtash district but currently staying at Telipati, Imphal.

Following the repeated attacks on migrant workers, a relief camp has been opened at Dharmashala since November 2.At present 18 migrant workers are taking refuge in the relief camp.

Most of them are daily wage earners.

Deputy Commissioner of Imphal West District has been arranging the meal for the migrant workers staying in the relief camp.

Four days earlier, the Government had issued a notification directing all migrant workers not to venture out of Imphal Municipal area.
