New Delhi: India has adopted 'decent work country programme' to help the vulnerable groups, strengthen informal economy and gender equality, according to the International Labour Organisation(ILO).

The International Labour body said the Programme was adopted following consultations amongst the tripartite partners- the Indian government, Employers' and' Workers' organisations.

ILO Director Ms Leyla Tegmo Reddy said the Programme "will strengthen partnership and impact people's lives, especially those who are most disadvantaged."

The five-year Programme places ILO's knowledge and instruments at the service of the constituents, policy- makers and other stake holders in order to advance India's vision of faster and inclusive growth and the Decent Work agenda.

The programme helps enhance productive work for women and men, particularly for youth and volunerable groups, espceially through skills development, an ILO release said.
