Indian designers to showcase their design at ‘Indian Premier London Fashion Week’

New Delhi: Idea Weavers announced the first ever-exclusive Indian designers fashion week, the ‘Indian Premier London Fashion Week (IPLFW)’ to be held in London this April. Scheduled from 9th April to 14th April, 2010, IPLFW will be showcasing the Autumn/Winter collection for 2010. Idea Weavers have also partnered with Elite Model Management, Stockholm, one of the leading modeling agencies across countries as the production partner for the show. To further add glamour to the occasion, IPLFW  is proposed to be organised at ‘The Old Truman Brewery’, the most prestigious and stylish venue in London, making it apt for the show.

The occasion today was graced by eminent designers Anamika Khanna and Narendra Kumar, who will also be participating in the Indian Premier London Fashion Week in April. Other eminent designers confirming their participation in the show till now include Ritu Beri, Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna. Understanding the emerging consciousness for global fashion trends transcending borders, Idea Weavers has conceptualised this international platform to present Indian creative fashion art by not only established ace fashion designers of India but also for the budding aspirants in the Indian fashion industry.

Elaborating the concept of the show, Mr. Vivek Agarwal, Chief Events Coordinator, Idea Weavers Pvt Ltd., said “Indian designers today are at par with International designers in excellence, innovation and creative galore. The competence to create a global presence coupled with right opportunity ensures the stay of global demand for Indian fashion. Through this show, we aim to provide our designers an opportunity to exhibit their brilliant creations as well as enhance their brand salability in the international arena.”

He further added, “In our endeavour to provide the most stylish and glamorous faces to the designs, we have partnered with Elite Model Management, one of the best modeling agencies across countries. We have already identified about 30 models that will be a part of the show and will represent the works of the designers. The show will be choreographed by an in-house team of Elite Choreographers.”
 
Speaking at the occasion, ace designer Anamika Khanna said,”Instead of being just an outsourcing hub, India is now being regarded as a serious player in fashion. There is immense excitement across the world for designs originating from India. We also have an edge over other designers because we have access to traditional Indian handicrafts and workmanship, unlike any other country.”

Commenting on the show, leading fashion designer Narendra Kumar added, “We are very excited that we finally have this platform to showcase our designs and talent to the burgeoning international audience in London and we are eagerly looking forward to the final show.”

Confirming their participation in IPLFW, Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna said, “We are looking forward to be part of IPLF Week. It’s an exciting time for Indian Fashion as country's best designer are coming together under one roof to showcase their Autumn Winter-10 collection and promoting Indian craftsmanship in London. We would like to thank Idea Weavers for such an initiative.”

IPLFW will mainly consist of five categories of shows that will include individual collections, group designers’ collection, Gen-Next show (aimed at the budding designers), trade show and an exhibition by both established as well as the new generation designers. The fashion week aims to be seen as the one-stop shop, attracting fashion industry executives, domestic and international buyers from the leading departmental stores and independent boutiques and is targeting a wide range of 30 potential international buyers.
