India too organises its own International Kite Festival which is held at Ahmedabad on January 14 every year on the eve of Makar Sankranti.

The festival draws kite-designers and flyers from various cities of India as well as from around the world.  One gets to see a large variety of kites at the site of the kite festival.

The sky gets filled and enlivened by kites of different sizes, shapes, colours and hues. Kites are seen soaring high and low in the sky.

A tremendous variety of kites are seen with friends, neighbours and total strangers indulging in kite fights.

At  the  night time people fly the illuminated box kites, often in a series strung on one line to keep the festive spirit still soaring.
