Jaipur: Though the Central Board of Secondary Education may have abolished the grade ten examination, but that has not deterred the many schools and some private fee charging examination agencies are still at this oppressive exercise with vested interests.
There are quite a few organisations that have been marketing tests and mock examinations on the premise that such exercises enhance the achievement motive of students. The glamorous brochures and high pressure selling techniques to rope in many high profile schools who collect examination fee for the marketed tests.
Some students are given prizes for performing well in such test at the cost of others. Some test conducting organisations have grown rich by marketing their tests which they claim to be standardised.
Though their will be no external examination at grade ten but perhaps there are going to more frequent periodic internal tests in the name of continuous evaluation. Unless schools are oriented to new role evaluation and monitored, there is going to be no respite for students.
