Malik to captain Pakistan in Twenty20, Akmal dropped

Lahore: Pakistan named middle-order batsman Shoaib Malik as the captain for the upcoming two Twenty20 match against England at Dubai, UAE.

However their was no place for wicket-keeper batsman Kamran Akmal in the 14 man squad as he was dropped instead Sarfaraz Ahmed will do the job behind the sticks.

Regular captain Shahid Afridi, who is serving a two match ban, will be available for the second T20 and finds his place in the squad.

Chief Selector Wasim Bari said, "Akmal is our main player and since we want to groom other players as well we have rested Akmal".

Pakistan is also traveling to Dubai without head coach Intikhab Alam instead former batsman Ijaz Ahmed, who is the batting and fielding coach, is likely to take extra responsibility.

Squad: Imran Nazir, Imran Farhat, Khalid Latif, Umer Akmal, Shoaib Malik (captain), Fawad Alam, Shahid Afridi, Abdul Razzaq, Sarfraz Ahmad, Umar Gul, Saeed Ajmal, Yasir Arafat, Wahab Riaz, Mohammad Talha.
