Ranji Trophy: Bowlers hog limelight on opening day

New Delhi:Stupendous performance by bowlers put Punjab, Mumbai and Karnataka on top on the first day of their Ranji Trophy Super League group matches Tuesday.

At the Karnail Singh Stadium here, Dhaval Kulkarni (3-24) and Iqbal Abdullah (3-46) were on fire as Mumbai bowled out Railways for just 187 runs in the first innings. Mumbai were two for one at close of play.

In Mohali, hosts Punjab riding on a brilliant spell by Love Ablish (6-79) skittled out Gujarat for just 160 runs. Niraj Patel was the top scorer with 39. Manpreet Gony also picked up four for 38.

Karnataka bowled out Maharashtra for 107 in the first innings in Pune after a sterling show by R. Vinay Kumar (5-40) and Abhimanyu Mithun (3-32). In reply, Karnataka were comfortably placed at 125 for one with K.B. Pawan batting on 74 and Ganesh Satish 40.

At Mohali: Gujarat 160 all out (Niraj Patel 39; Love Ablish 6/79, Manpreet Gony 4/38). Punjab 77/2.

At Dharmasala: Tamil Nadu 293/8 (Ravichandran Ashwin 107 batting, Dinesh Karthik 70; Vikramjit Singh Malik 3/79).

At Delhi:
Railways 187 all out (Marripuri Suresh 31; Dhaval Kulkarni 3/24, Iqbal Abdullah 3/46). Mumbai 2/1.

At Pune:
Maharashtra 107 (R. Vinay Kumar 5/40, Abhimanyu Mithun 3/32). Karnataka 125/1 (K.B. Pawan 74 batting, Ganesh Satish 40 batting).

At Kolkata:
Saurashtra 372/3 (Chirag Pathak 118, Sagar Jogiyani 103). Bengal

At Lucknow:
Uttar Pradesh 300/4 (Tanmay Srivastava 109, Suresh Raina 69). Delhi

At Hyderabad:
Orissa 203/5 (Pruvanjan Mullick 73, Hallahar Das 49; Munagala Praneet Arjun 3/30). Hyderabad
