Kolkata: Terming script of a film the actual hero, bollywood actor John Abraham today referred to Bengali films as 'really beautiful'.

''Bengali films are really beautiful. I found the recent Ritoparno Ghosh creation 'Sob Charitra Kalpanik' to be an amazing piece of work. I sat through every moment of the film,'' the star said.

In Tamil films the treatment of romance was good, he added.

John was speaking at the announcement conference of Kolkata Fashion and Lifestyle Week (KFLW) here.
The five-day fashion extravaganza will start from February 24 with 'Eco Fashion' as its theme.

Reliving his modelling days, John said, ''As a model I was John.

But when I am acting, I am the character I play.'' I enjoy films much more than anything else and turning to Hindi films was a natural progression,'' he added.

Speaking about his lady love Bipasha Basu, the model-turned-actor said, ''She is in the most amazing shape now. When I saw her photos recently, my jaws dropped. I thought this cannot be real.''

On why he is doing less work now, the actor said, ''For success you need to do less and qualitative work. My earlier film scripts were not good. I am gradually learning now, doing selective and qualitative work.''
