Mumbai: The South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce (SIFCC) today threatened to boycott Bollywood stars, attending the 11th International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA) from June 3 to 5 in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Issuing an ultimatum, SIFCC urged Bollywood stars to ''Boycott IIFA Awards in Colombo or face the music down south''. The chamber decided not to screen films of stars who chose to attend the IIFA Awards. They will not cooperate with Hindi directors and technicians as well, said SIFCC.
''Although the ethnic war is over, the Sri Lankan government is trying to project as if peace has come back to the country,'' SIFCC, president L Suresh stated.
Among the stars who will not be attending the event are Kamal Haasan, who had appealed for a change of venue, actress Khushbu, director Mani Ratnam, Aishwarya Rai, Abhishek Bachchan and Shahrukh Khan.
Others including Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Priyanka Chopra and Ranbir Kapoor and IIFA's social initiative ambassador, Salman Khan are expected to attend the event.
