Patna: With 42 Assembly constituencies set to go to polls, Bihar saw a clash between security forces and Maoists as the latter triggered a blast in Betia forest while unidentified persons set off four explosions in Danapur early on Monday.
Maoists had triggered a blast near a bridge on the Chakai-Jamui main road in Betia jungle, but none was injured, said Director General of Police Neelmani.
An exchange of fire also took place as the BSF commandos retaliated after which the Maoists fled, he said.
Meanwhile, unidentified persons set off four bombs near booth Nos. 56 and 57 in Danapur, but none was injured, police sources said.
Defects in EVMs were also reported from some booths in Bhagalpur and Banka districts, but were promptly attended to, official sources said.
FIRs were also lodged against RJD chief Lalu Prasad and his wife Rabri Devi for entering a booth with securitymen in tow in violation of the model code of conduct.
The FIRs were registered by the Block Development Officer of Digha Ashok Kumar with the Patna airport police station, said Sub-Divisional Magistrate and Returning Officer for Digha assembly constituency Maqsood Alam.
