'Twilight Saga-New Moon' hits Indian screens
'Twilight Saga-New Moon' hits Indian screens

New Delhi: After a historical sweep at the box office in the US, 'Twilight Saga-New Moon' is all set to hit Indian screens on December 11. 'New Moon', that has created a world-wide history at the box office with its collection of 140.7 million dollar in the US following its release on November 20 across the world, is set to be released in India on December 11 by PVR Pictures with over 300 prints, making it one of the largest release for a Hollywood film in the country.

Sources in PVR Pictures said New Moon', second part of the saga, will be released in India with over 300 prints and for the first time, PVR Pictures will be releasing the movie in Hindi , Tamil and Telugu as well. The film has been titled Amavasya in Telugu and Digilan in Tamil.'New Moon', has achieved milestones never seen before. The movie has created a world-wide history by achieving No.1 position through its box office collections.

At the international box office , the vampire romancer bowed to 118.1 million dollar for a sparkling worldwide opening of a total of 258.8 million dollar. The 'Twilight Saga-New Moon', already released in the US, has achieved the best single opening day ever, surpassing 'The Dark Knight' (67.2 million dollar); biggest two day total to reach 100 plus million dollar, even leaving the day two take of 114.8 million dollar of The Dark Knight behind and the biggest November opening in history surpassing Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire (102.7 million Dollars).

With its wide release in India, New Moon is expected to create a record-breaking stir in here as well. The book, Twilight Saga has already become a blockbuster release in India with over 3,00,000 copies sold so far. Hachette India, the publisher of the Twilight series is confident to add more copies to this number once the movie releases in India.

Commenting on the much awaited release of the 'Twilight & New Moon' in India, Deepak Sharma, Head-Distribution (Worldwide), PVR Pictures said, ''The overwhelming response that we have received for Twilight has been extremely encouraging. With record-breaking collections that 'New Moon' has achieved internationally in its opening weekend, we are very excited to release it across the country. We are confident that it will break the record set by '2012' and be one of the biggest films of the year.'' The first part of the saga Twilight was released on November 20 in India. It has witnessed a very good opening with over a 60 per cent occupancy ratio on the weekend. PVR Pictures will be releasing the movie not only in metro cities but also in small centres in the days to come.
