Bhubaneswar: Tata Company has taken 3,700 acres of land at Gopalpur during 1998 and established only an ITI school. In Kalinga Nagar the company also has taken 4,000 acres of land. By using the minerals of Orissa the company has been grown vigorously, but not bothered about any interests of the State.

In the times of natural calamities, the company didn’t take part in reconstruction work.  Senior Congress leader Umesh Chandra Swain has threatened here on Friday to hunger strike before the offices of the Tata Company.

Mr. Swain told the mediapersons that after withdrawal of Nano project from Singur in West Bengal, Orissa, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat states invited Tatas for the project. Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik wrote a letter of invitation on 3rd October to its Chairman Ratan Tata.

The company has not yet replied but has signed a Memorandum of Understsnding (MOU) with Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on 7th October for setup the project at Sanand of Gujarat state near Ahmadabad.

Mr. Swain has given advice to the state government to withdraw the lease of all land and mines, if the Nano project is not established in Orissa.
