Chandigarh: Committed to making potable water available to the villagers, the Haryana Government today launched Rs 11.25-crore Naandi Community Safe Water Project.
It will provide clean drinking water through water treatment plants based on Reverse Osmosis technology to 100 villages spread over four districts of the state, namely Jhajjar, Mohindergarh, Kaithal and Mewat. Located in Dujana village of Jhajjar district, the project has been set up with the assistance of Hyderabad-based Naandi Foundation, a non-government organisation.
It was jointly inaugurated by Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker, Dr Raghuvir Singh Kadian, and Member of Parliament, Mr Deepender Singh Hooda. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Deepedner Hooda said that the Haryana Government, under the dynamic leadership of the Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, was not only serious to make the state self-reliant in the power sector but was also committed to providing potable water to the people of the state.
First of a series, the Naandi Community Safe Water Centres would be constructed as a pilot project in 100 villages of four districts. Dr Kadian said that treated water would be supplied by the Naandi Foundation to the beneficiaries at the rate of 10 paise per litre.
