Aamir Khan will produce three films this year, on the back of the success of his production Taare Zameen Par (TPZ).

TZP has grossed Rs 50 crore so far, of which the lion''''s share will go to Aamir Khan Productions. This year, the star has lined up three films of which he will act in only one: Ghajini, the remake of the acclaimed Memento, directed by Christopher Nolan.

On the remake of Ghajini, the actor comments, “When I was offered GHAJINI I didn't take it very seriously as I'm not usually keen on remakes. But when I saw the film I really loved it. I did not like the last 30 minutes of the film but despite that the film had worked for me. I was not sure that I should do it as I had a problem with the end of the film, also I was not sure that it was my kind of film.

The person who persuaded me to go for it was Surya, the hero in the original. I had called him to congratulate him on his performance. While discussing the film I expressed my doubts, I felt that maybe I was not the right actor for the film. He just brushed aside my doubts and insisted that I was the right person for the Hindi remake. But what sealed it for me was my meeting with the director. He is a really spirited young director and I was very impressed meeting him. He has a really nice vibe around him and a very sharp instinct towards his work. Importantly, when I expressed my reservations regarding the end of the film he did not hesitate in seconding that he too was not very happy with that portion.”

Aamir currently sports a buzz-cut for his role in Ghajini as the man whose memory lapses every few hours and who works his way through life by writing notes to himself.

Of the other two films he's producing, Ranbir Kapoor will star in Delhi Belly, work on which will begin in the next couple of months. The film, an action comedy set in the backdrop of Delhi, is being made in English and will be directed by young Swede Robert Nylund. A substantial part of the cast and crew will apparently be imported from Hollywood for the film, a novelty in an industry that prides itself on its quality.

Aamir Khan Productions is also working on Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na in which the star is launching his nephew Imran Khan. Shooting for the film is complete. The film is directed by Abbas Tyrewala (who wrote dialogue for Maqbool) and has Telugu actress Genelia opposite Imran
