Ahmedabad: Gujarat should lead the battle against global warming by streamlining its natural resources, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi said here today.
"Gujarat should provide a model to the nation to fight global warming. Betterment of the future generation should be the only criteria and all of us together should take step to prevent this phenomenon," Modi said during a function organised for inducting the new president of the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI).
"The state government has already initiated step in this direction," Modi said, adding that he did not want to reveal details in public at this stage.
He also said that Gujarat needs to make quantum jumps and evolve new development models and lead the nation.
"We have developed a new development model-- Rurban -- a combination of rural and urban models. This will usher development in rural areas with an urban perspective," Modi said.
He also congratulated the new GCCI president Rupesh Shah (53rd president) and wished that under his leadership the body will lead and give a new direction to industrial development in the state.
Shah is exporter of ceramic insulators and industrial ceramics and has won many awards for his achievements.
