Mahindra XUV500 W3 Variant Launched In India, Price Undercuts Tata Harrier

Mahindra has officially launched a new entry-level variant of XUV500 in India and it is priced at Rs. 12.28 lakh (Ex-Showroom). The new W3 variant is basically the W4 variant, which was available with the pre-facelift model and it undercuts the base variant of Harrier marginally as the latter is priced at Rs. 12.70 lakh.

The company has skipped so many premium features on the base variant as the front doesn’t get chrome finished grille instead Mahindra has given a grey finish and the black plastic cladding across the body is also not available along with 17-inch steel wheel instead of alloy wheels and the rear misses out on wash and wiper.

The XUV500 W3 variant comes with projector headlamps set up, which is really helpful especially in highways but the SUV doesn’t get LED DRLs along with fog lamps and the tail lamps are also the same unit from other variants. The interior is finished in black colour and the soft-touch materials have been replaced by hard plastics.

The W3 variant misses out on an audio system and the SUV come with regular fabric seats. The base variant of XUV500 is packed with front and rear power windows, electronically adjustable exterior mirrors (power folding not available), manual air-conditioning, front and rear AC vents, central locking and mild-hybrid system.

Mahindra XUV500 is powered by the same 2.2 L diesel engine and it produces 155 hp of power and 360 Nm of torque. The base variant comes with 6-speed manual gearbox but top-spec models come with an automatic gearbox and four-wheel drive system.

The top-spec models of XUV500 are offered with features like touch screen infotainment system, climate control, leather upholstery, multi-function steering wheel, sunroof, electronically folding mirrors, rear camera with parking sensors, 18-inch alloy wheels, 6-airbags, ESP with rollover mitigation, hill hold and descent control, all-wheel disc brakes and more.
