Budget carrier SpiceJet today announced “Great Independence Day Sale”, offering base fares starting as low as Rs 399 on select domestic routes.
Bookings for SpiceJet’s offer will be open till August 11 and will be applicable on travel between August 18 and September 30.
SpiceJet said some of the popular routes on which the offer is applicable are Ahmedabad-Mumbai, Amritsar-Srinagar, Bengaluru-Chennai, Bengaluru-Kochi, Coimbatore-Hyderabad, Jammu-Srinagar and Mumbai-Goa.
SpiceJet did not disclose the number of seats available under the offer. Tickets under this offer are refundable but only statutory taxes are refundable, SpiceJet added.
A search on SpiceJet’s website showed that the Rs 399 base fare offer, for example, is applicable on Bengaluru-Chennai and Ahmedabad-Mumbai routes. Inclusive all charges, Bengaluru-Chennai and Ahmedabad-Mumbai tickets under the promotional offer started from Rs 1,137 and Rs 1,053 respectively.
Airlines typically announce promotional schemes for travel during the July to September period, considered a lean season in travel industry. Discount offers help airlines increase load factors during that period.
State-run Air India also launched a ‘Monsoon Sale’ today with tickets priced at Rs 1,199 including all charges on domestic routes and Rs 15,999 all-inclusive tickets on international travel.
The fares are applicable on one-way travel in the economy class, Air India said.
The Air India offer is available till August 15 and is applicable for domestic travel between August 22 and September 30. On international routes, the offer is available for travel between September 15 and December 15.
Air India’s domestic travel offer of Rs 1,199 (all-inclusive) is available on some of the routes such as Bengaluru to Chennai, Delhi to Jaipur and Chennai to Bengaluru.
Air India also did reveal number of seats on offer under the promotional offer either.
