Assam needs a Congress-led alliance government to strengthen democracy, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said on Wednesday.
The people of Assam are ready to restore their faith in the five guarantees given by the Congress in reply to five years of BJP misrule in the state, Baghel said on the third day of his election campaign in the northeastern state.
He addressed public rallies at different venues of Jonai, Sonari and Silapathar Assembly constituencies.
Addressing a gathering, he said everyone is now speaking about rising prices of essential commodities and hike in the cost of LPG, petrol and more.
All these were contrary to what was promised by the BJP. Therefore, people have lost faith in the BJP and want to bring back the Congress to power, he said.
Baghel listed out the various flagship public oriented schemes launched in Chhattisgarh by the Congress government.
By following the principles of Mahatma Gandhi, the Congress respects all religions, he said. It believes in the principle of reaching out to the last person.
