Baghel indulging in ‘Letter Politics’, says BJP

The Chhattisgarh BJP on Friday accused Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel of indulging in “Letter Politics” by releasing to the media his letters to the union government and said it is aimed at diverting public attention from the realities of Covid-19 and its aftermath.

BJP state spokesperson and MLA Shivratan Sharma said: “Why is the Chief Minister is indulging in ‘Letter Politics’ and releasing them to the media? It is to divert the minds of the people from the actual issues. It is sheer political scheming.”

Sharma said: “The Chief Minister should also release the letter to the public in which the Health Minister was refrained from holding departmental meetings through video-conferencing.”

He added: “The state government is only claiming achievements but the reality is that it has failed to perform in all sectors. To cover up the failures, such new political gimmicks are being played. This is just to divert their attention.

“With Covid-19 crisis, the unemployment situation will turn explosive. The number of Covid positive cases is increasing daily. The state’s financial status is in doldrums.

“The Congress government in the state does not have any work which can be claimed as its achievement. Instead of tackling the crisis, the government is indulging in political manipulation which is shameful. The day is not far when the state government will squarely blame the Centre for its own failure.”
