Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has decided to provide for free one kilo arhar dal (pigeon pea) to BPL ration card holding families of the state in June.

The free distribution is for those who hold ration cards issued under the Chhattisgarh Food and Nutrition Security Act.

Food Department Secretary Dr Kamalpreet Singh has issued an order regarding arhar dal’s distribution in fair price shops.

The order states that under the Chhattisgarh Food and Nutrition Security Act, 1kg chickpeas at Rs 5/kg and 1kg arhar dal free of cost will be distributed to the ration card holders.

The Food Secretary has directed all the Collectors to ensure free distribution of arhar dal.
