Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel performed yoga postures here on Monday to mark the International Yoga Day and urged people to make yoga a daily routine, saying it led to a healthy body and mind.
Calling yoga “very important”, Baghel said that those who do yoga regularly are always healthy and Covid-19 had made it clear that a healthy body and mind were as important as wealth.
Therefore, regular yoga is very important to stay healthy, he said.
“Yoga is our ancient tradition. Our sages had known its importance long ago. So they used to do yoga regularly. All of us had forgotten this in the race for materialistic pursuits. But the corona made us all health conscious,” he said.
“At such times, if we all do yoga regularly, then the body and the mind will be healthy. There will be positivity in life.”
He said that if both body and mind remain healthy, “we can face any adverse situation”.
The Chhattisgarh government has arranged for training of yoga through virtual medium and everyone must take advantage of it, the Chief Minister said.
On the occasion of International Yoga Day, a virtual yoga marathon was organized in Chhattisgarh. More than 10 lakh people had registered themselves for it.
