Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Friday unveiled the statue of freedom fighter and mass leader Late Bisahu Das Mahant at Sakti municipality in Janjgir-Champa district.
Unveiling the statue on the 98th birth anniversary of Mahant, Baghel said that he was a popular leader who was a cabinet minister in undivided Madhya Pradesh four times.
The people of the state will always remember his incomparable contributions and work, Baghel said.
“Hailing from a farmers’ family, the late Bisahu Das Mahant worked for the development of agriculture, irrigation and roads,” he said.
“He also dreamt of a separate Chhattisgarh state. He believed in simple living and high thinking,” Baghel added.
