Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has urged Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel to intervene and instruct officers to initiate action to expedite development of the airports at Raigarh and Ambikapur. In a letter to Baghel on Wednesday, Scindia highlighted the matter related to land requirement of 569 acres at Raigarh to develop the airport to make it suitable for operations of ATR72/Q400 type of aircraft in Phase I. Similarly, Phase II will see AB-320 type of aircraft, an official statement said. He said the restoration of airport land in favour of the Airport Authority of India (AAI) by the state government is pending. The Minister also urged the Chief Minister to expedite the development of Ambikapur airport for 3C operations under Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS-UDAN) operations for which a budget of Rs 90 crores has been allocated.
