Former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister and BJP leader Raman Singh on Sunday described the Congress view on the selection of a Vice Chancellor of the Indira Gandhi Agriculture University as an attack on the federal structure.
He said it was the prerogative of the Governor to choose a Vice-Chancellor. But the Congress has unnecessarily created a scenario so that a person of its choice can be posted to the coveted post.
He said the BJP believed that a ‘son of soil’ based on merit should get priority in the selection to the post.
He added that adequate representation should be given to other sections of the state.
