Modi Govt allows vaccine makers to make profits: Cong

Terming the Covid vaccine policy ‘discriminatory and insensitive’, the Congress in Chhattisgarh on Sunday accused the Modi Government of allowing manufacturers to make profits at the cost of people.

Pradesh Congress Committee President Mohan Markam said the high price of the vaccine will badly hamper the States’ treasury. With this, it is clear that the Centre’s priority is doing business and not battling the pandemic, he said.

“The Modi Government was seeking an opportunity in the pandemic condition and has left states to bear the high vaccine cost which was completely free during the Congress regime for 70 years,” Markam said.

He also raised questions about the PM Cares Fund and demanded to know where the money was spent.

“Why there are five different prices of the vaccine when there is one nation,” he said. The vaccine price for the Centre has been pegged by the manufacturers very low and for the states very high.
