The Congress in Chhattisgarh on Thursday demanded that the Narendra Modi government should roll back the increase in fuel prices which it said will devastate the country.
Although international crude oil prices are at an all-time low, the decision of the union government to hike the prices of petrol and diesel amounts to pushing the people into devastation, state spokesperson Mohammad Aslam said.
Aslam said in a statement that people are annoyed with the increase in fuel prices and will give “a befitting reply” to the government in the times to come.
“More astonishing is that the hike comes when the country along with the world is facing a pandemic and thousands of people have fallen victim to it,” he said.
At a time when people are fighting to retain their livelihood options, the union government has taken a wrong decision, he said.
