The BJP on Monday demanded that all work at the Sapre School Ground should be stopped and the area should be allowed to retain its original form.

“Sapre Ground is an historical ground which witnessed events during the independence movement… The ground was a key place for freedom fighters since 1857. It has been the ground for election rallies addressed by political stalwarts including Vijay Lakshmi Pandit and Atal Bihari Vajpayee,” BJP state spokesperson Shrichand Sunderani said.

This is the venue where Vajpayee announced the formation of Chhattisgarh,” he said in a statement.

The BJP leader added that any damage to the historical form of the Sapre Ground will be strongly protested so that the ground remains available to the school students, sports activities continue to be held.
