While the iconic film ‘Mr. India’ starring Anil Kapoor and Sridevi clocked 32 years recently, makers, actors and the fans took a trip down the memory lane. And while Anil and director Shekhar Kapur’s cryptic message on twitter a while back has left fans wondering if the sequel is on the cards, it is Boney Kapoor who recently seemed to have confirmed the same. According to reports, Boney Kapoor said that reboot of ‘Mr. India’ is on the cards. According to him, the idea is to create a reboot first, and then, make a franchise of it. It needs to be made more contemporary. He also added that they have a basic structure in mind and while they haven’t decided on a timeline yet, but they intend to make it soon.
Boney also reportedly remembered putting up a large set near Versova beach. He said that he was so happy with the costumes that he paid a bonus to the stylist. Amrish Puri as Mogambo was a masterstroke; he brought the character alive. According to the producer, her wife Sridevi was considered a glamorous star earlier. However, the audience’s perception of her changed after ‘Mr. India’. People saw her as a powerful actress. Anil too became more legitimate a performer with the film. Kapoor added that after the sad demise of his wife, he has even more reason to make the film now.
Speaking about who will be directing the film, Boney reportedly stated that id Shekhar Kapur is free, he can direct it. He added that the cast and crew made the film what it was, and if anyone from the original line-up wants to be part of it, they can join them again.
