NEW DELHI: Senior Congress leader and former finance minister P Chidambaram on Wednesday attacked the government and asked “why ‘acche din’ has not arrived after 6 years.”

In a series of tweets, Chidambaram stated, “People want to hear facts about the economy, not abuse and rhetoric.”

He also said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his ministers seemed to be “cut off from reality”. The former finance minister “suggested” three things which the government can speak about in the Delhi elections: First, increase in CPI or consumer price-based inflation from 2 per cent in January 2019 to 7.35 per cent in December 2019. Second, facts on economy and third, why ‘achhe din’ has not arrived after 6 years.

In another set of tweets, Chidambaram lashed out at BJP leaders over their “appalling” language. He wrote: “The language used by minister Anurag Thakur, BJP MP Sahib Singh Verma, BJP state president Dilip Ghosh snd BJP Karnataka minister CT Ravi is appalling.”
He added: “It seems that, faced with imminent defeat in the Delhi elections, the BJP leaders have bid goodbye to civilised political discourse.”

He also asked “why are the PM and the BJP president not admonishing these leaders?”
Earlier in the day, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also attacked the Centre over falling GDP (gross domestic product) and spike in inflation numbers.
