Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi’s phone number has been making news in the state of Punjab. Women Congress workers were seen particularly enthused about this phone number, that was launched by Prashant Kishore as an helpline.
It was claimed that one can get there issue across to Rahul Gandhi directly through the number 98789-85019.
The helpline is open to one and all to make suggestions to Congress or Rahul Gandhi for Punjab elections, along with stating issues and demands of a person or area.
The helpline number has been encountering a sizable traffic, an operator said, adding that most of the callers are women Congress workers or girls.
According to Prashant Kishore, the helpline is aimed at getting those workers back in touch with Congress, who were separated from the party, and also to receive valuable inputs from the youth.
Rahul Gandhi inaugurated this number at a resort in Jarikpur on April 16, in the presence of a number of party workers.
Out of the suggestions received so far, the women party workers have said that Congress should go for a image makeover, and instead of an outsider, a local must be given the ticket to stand in elections for a region.
The party must raise the issues relating to the backward classes, and also these classes be given proper representation, another woman suggested.
While some other women demanded improvemnet in the grain markets in the state, and that Congress must pick up the issue of rising prices of grain.
The villages lack primary health facilities, and so this muct be included in the party’s agenda, a caller on the halpline suggested.
