With just months to go for the crucial Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi said he wants to see his younger sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra playing an active role in politics.
“I trust my sister more than anybody else. I’d like her to be actively involved in politics, but it’s up to her to decide when, how and if she wants to do it,” Rahul said in an interview to Times of India.
The remarks came during his ongoing ‘Deoria to Dilli kisan yatra’ in which he is reaching out to farmers and meeting people across all sections of the society.
Time and again demands are being raised by Congress workers that Priyanka should lead the party ever after party’s dismal show in 2014 Lok Sabha elections and consecutive state polls.
Rahul has been undertaking roadshows, addressing khat sabhas targetting Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not doing enough for farmers.
“Narendra Modi made different promises…of Rs 15 lakh in bank accounts of the people, fair price for farmers, employment to 2 crore and many others… He is a machine that takes selfies and makes promises,” Rahul had said addressing a gathering during a roadshow in Orai.
