A badminton academy will be set up in Chhattisgarh soon, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel announced on Monday.
He said the Chhattisgarh Sports Development Authority has been constituted to improve sports facilities. Sportspersons will soon be appointed in the body.
Baghel was discussing with the representatives of various sports federations and sportspersons on sports promotion, developing sports facilities and honing of sports talent in the state.
Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Umesh Patel joined the meeting virtually.
Baghel requested business and industrial groups to contribute towards the promotion of sports in the state.
He said the major industries will be entrusted with the responsibilities of stadium maintenance and arrangement of diet and accommodation facilities for the sportspersons.
He said coaches of national and international repute can be appointed through industries.
The Chief Minister laid emphasis on utilizing the international level infrastructure facilities available to polish the talents.
