Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Wednesday denounced the BJP and RSS for defaming former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi.
Baghel was addressing a symposium ‘Nehru Ki Kalpana Ka Bharat’ in Bhilai city.
He charged the BJP with fanning communal hatred and said that it was indulged in divisive politics.
“This is nothing new. The two-nation theory was actually propagated by Vinayak Damodar Savarkar in contrasty to Nehru who always worked for united India and who believed in unity in diversity”, he said.
Terming Nehru an architect of modern India, Baghel recalled his contribution in establishing the steel city of Bhilai. Bhilai now glorifies the country and all the credit goes to the former Prime Minister, he said.
Regarding Gandhi, he said nonviolence is a weapon of the brave and only cowards resort to violence, he said.
