Complete lockdown today, tomorrow

There will be a curfew-like complete lockdown for 48 hours in Chhattisgarh this weekend, i.e. Saturday and Sunday, in line with Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel’s instructions.

The government had decided that a complete lockdown had to be enforced on weekends in the entire month of May to prevent the spread of the deadly coronavirus.

Only shops selling essential items like medicines and milk will remain open during the weekends.

People had begun to flout social distancing norms widely during weekends after lockdown relaxations were given. Determined to check the pandemic, the state government decided to enforce curfew like situation every Saturday and Sunday in May.

After the Union government announced relaxation of certain rules in the third phase of the lockdown, several shops selling non-essential merchandise reopened in Chhattisgarh from May 4, except those located in Covid-19 containment zones.
