Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Monday urged people to donate blood to save lives.
He made the appeal on the occasion of the World Blood Donor Day (June 14).
The theme for this year is “Donating blood is an act of solidarity. Join the effort and save lives”, he said.
Many a time blood is not easily available to people in emergency situations. People need to understand the importance of blood donation and there is no harm in donating it, he said.
On June 14, a blood donation camp has been organized at the Raipur District Hospital, Pandri.
Pathologist Dr Madhuri Wankhede said that after the Covid-19 pandemic, there has been a drastic fall in blood donation. Awareness and message is being spread through social media, seeking donors to donate blood.
She said blood cannot be produced artificially. Donation is the lone source of blood. So, to save life, blood needs to be donated.
