Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Tuesday paid tributes to Mini Mata, the first woman parliamentarian from the state, on her death anniversary, saying she took women’s standing to new heights. Recalling her role, Baghel said Mini Mata devoted her entire life for humanity and social service. She helped bring about several legal provisions in parliament for social uplift.
Even though she was born and brought up in Assam, she assimilated herself with Chhattisgarhi culture and worked tirelessly for the rights of women and deprived sections.
To honour her contribution, the Chhattisgarh government has started an award in her name for social and women’s uplift and named the Hasdeo Bango Dam after her, he said.
