India continued their torrid record in England, losing yet another Test on the English soil. In this Test, unlike the previous one, India did not put any fight and bowed down in front of the England bowlers, who made most out of the conditions favouring them. James Anderson emerged out to be the star of the match for England as the veteran pacer scalped nine wickets in total. He was well supported by Stuart Broad, who wrecked havoc in the second innings with a total of four scalps. All-rounder Chris Woakes played his part well, by scoring a century and dismissing four of India’s batsmen. He also broke the 55-run partnership between Hardik Pandya and R Ashwin, who had batted for almost 12 overs together.
Indian players were in the firing line after the defeat but Ravi Shastri, team India’s head coach, was also not spared as Twitterati also blamed him for the loss. Before India flew to the UK for the series, Shastri had spoken that India can defeat England, but this hasn’t been the case in the Test series till now.In fact, India are staring at a series defeat, with three games still remaining. Here is how Twitterati slammed Shastri
Looking at the form of the Indian players till now, there are minute chances of the Virat Kohli-led team registering a win against England, who are at the top of their form.At one stage in the second Test, India looked like making a comeback when the bowlers had dismissed five of England’s batsmen on 131. Woakes (137*) and Jonny Bairstow (93) shared 189 runs for the sixth wickets to ensure a comeback for their team, thus keeping India out of the contest. The third Test of the series will be played in Nottingham from August 18. A win in that Test will ensure third consecutive series win for England over India in Tests at home.
