Sania-Hingis overcome Chan-Pennetta to enter Aegon semis

The top-seeded pair of Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis came back from a set down to beat Taipei’s Hao-Ching Chan and Italy’s Flavia Pennetta to enter the semi-finals of the WTA Aegon International on Sunday.

The Indo-Swiss duo got the better of the unseeded combo of Chan and Pennetta 4-6, 6-3, 10-6 in the one hour, 13 minute quarter-final contest of the US$ 731,000 grass-court tournament, the last before Wimbledon.

Sania and Hingis converted five out of the six break points they had in the match, while their opponents won just five out of 12 break points.

In the semi-finals, the top-seeded pair will take on Caroline Garcia of France and Katarina Srebotnik of Slovenia.
