With the tense situation in Kashmir valley leading to widening distrust, a Kashmiri student was badly thrashed by 10 unidentified men at Barkatullah University in Bhopal on Monday.
The victim Umar Rasheed, who is pursuing his PHD, alleged that 10 people surrounded him after identifying him as a Kashmiri and started beating him.
Later, a group of Kashmiri students entered BU Vice Chancellor office seeking security.
The VC later called the police who evacuated the office from protesters.
The situation in Kashmir continues to be tense as the death toll in the Valley goes up to 38 and 1600 have been wounded so far. Widespread protests are being witnessed in the state since the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen militant Burhan Wani on July 8.
Earlier, Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers party demanded that Governor’s rule be imposed in the state in the wake of violent clashes following the gunning down of Hizbul poster boy Burhan Wani by security forces last week.
