A farmer in Surguja district of Chhattisgarh was given a relief cheque of Rs 81 by the district administration as a compensation for his crop damages on Saturday.
Jairam, the disappoited farmer, while reacting to the amount received through cheque said, “Don’t know if I should I repay loan that I had taken, with this amount (Rs 81) or commit suicide.”
“My crop spread across four acres and crops worth around Rs 1 lakh were damaged due to hailstorm. But I have been given only Rs 81 as compensation,” said Jairam.
No reaction of district authorities has been received yet. More details are awaited.
