All 27 districts of Chhattisgarh may soon get one-stop centres for helping women victims of any form of violence.
“The Centre has given in-principle consent to set up one-stop centres in each of the 27 districts,” a government
official said on Thursday.
Chhattisgarh Women and Child Development Minister Ramsheela Sahu on Thursday met Union Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi in New Delhi and sought Centre’s nod in this regard.
“The Union minister gave an in-principle consent to the proposal,” the official said.
At present only the capital city, Raipur, has such a help centre for women.
The help centre provides medical aid to the victims of rape, dowry harassment and domestic violence, besides helping
them file FIRs, giving legal advice and psychological counselling.
Sahu also requested Gandhi the Centre should restart distribution of double fortified salt to women, increase funds
for the Sabala Yojana, and release it for 2016-17.
Sahu also requested the Centre to include Balod, Janjgir-Champa, Jashpur, Kawardha and Narayanpur districts of
Chhattisgarh under the ‘Beti-Bachao, Beti-Padhao Yojana’.
