Chouhan government seeks NCERT nod to include Gita lessons in textbooks

The Shivraj Singh Chouhan government has decided to write to the NCERT to include moral lessons from religious books including Bhagwad Gita in school curriculum.
According to a TOI report, MP cabinet chaired by chief minister on Tuesday decided to write to NCERT, seeking permission to include chapters from Bhagwad Gita in school curriculum.
“The main objective of including lessons from Gita was to inculcate moral values among youth,” said minister of state for education, Deepak Joshi was quoted as saying.
To take all stakeholders into confidence to design new NCERT syllabus, a consultative committee has been constituted, the report said.
“Books will be provided free of cost to students till middle school. This would be an important change in the education sector and all we need to get it done successfully ,“ Joshi was further quoted.
The draft has already been given to Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB), the TOI report said.
