Five Naxals held during search operation in Sukma

Five Naxals, two of them carrying cash reward on their heads, were arrested during a search operation by security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district, police said.
A joint team of Special Task Force (STF) and district force nabbed the cadres while undertaking the search operation to the interior forests of Gadiras police station area, Sukma Superintendent of Police (SP) Indira Kalyan Elesela told PTI.
Security forces were cordoning off Badesetti and Kondre village forests when they spotted five suspects while they were trying to escape into deep jungles, he said.
During interrogation, they admitted to their involvement with the outlawed CPI (Maoist), the officer added.
The arrested Podiyami Bheema (23), Handa Mandavi (45), Nuppo Deva (25), Kalmu Kesa (30) and Rawa Sukka (25) were active as lower rung members of the banned outfit, the SP said.
Of them, Sukka was carrying a reward of Rs 2,000 whereas Rs 1,000 reward was announced for Handas arrest, the officer added.
