Kanker collector Shammi Abidi criticised on social media after a picture of her security guard carrying her slippers has surfaced on internet.

The picture was taken when the young IAS officer happened to cross the Anicut dam on foot through gushing waters from Kotari river to attend a redressal meeting, said a report.

However, earlier she was appreciated for her active behaviour as she has crossed the river to address public grievances but on Friday the picture clicked during the event took another turn and Abidi became the subject of social media ridicule.

In a statement to TOI, she was quoted as saying ‘I had left my shoe in the pilot vehicle as it was slippery. I don’t know when the guard picked my shoes and followed me.’
However, the pictures circulated on social media purportedly showing her security guard carrying her slippers while crossing the river.

In the pictures it can also be seen that the security guard, who is wearing an ammunition vest is holding his pair of shoes in his right hand and carrying the collector’s shoes in left and walking behind, report further added.
