Man chops off wife’s tongue, breaks her backbone for wanting to return to her maternal home

A man in Bhandar Sivani chopped off his wife’s tongue as she declared that she had decided to go back to her mother’s, as she was fed up of the regular domestic violence.

A team of the Women and Child Welfare Department rescued Sakhawati from her maternal house in Benur Police Station area.
The brutality did not stop there. Her tongue was chopped off, along with burns all over her body and also her she was beaten so much that her back bone broke.
Her husband was outraged after she expressed her wish to return to her maternal home, as she was fed up of the regular domestic violence she had to go through.
The husband beat her up, and did not take her for any medical attention she needed. The victim’s mother and father somehow took her to the hospital, and then into their hut.
Child Protection officer Kiran Nailwal said, “The woman’s condition is very pitiable. There’s a stench emanating from her body, suggesting she has been moved since two months.”
Another officer Sarita Banjare said, “Since 108 ambulance was late, we shifted her to the hospital in our own vehicle.”
“We are awaiting medical reports. An FIR has been lodged against the tormentor,” she added.
