Man gets life imprisonment in dowry death case

A local court on Wednesday sentenced a 30-year-old man to life imprisonment in a 2012 dowry death case.
Additional Sessions Judge AK Paliwal awarded life imprisonment to Roshan Vishwakarma under section 304-b (dowry death) of IPC after examining 10 prosecution witnesses.
Roshan’s wife, Puja (24), hanged herself at her residence in Limbodi area in Indore on May 14, 2012, Special Public Prosecutor Vishal Anand Shrivastava told reporters.
Roshan tortured his wife for Rs 5 lakh dowry after which she sought Rs 2 lakh from her family and gave it to him.
Despite this, Roshan continued to harass her, the prosecution added.
Puja and Roshan were married in 2011. Later, the convict started torturing his wife physically and mentally for dowry, Shrivastava said.
