MP, Chhattisgarh see declaration of Rs 1,500 crore of black money by Sep 30, action to follow

Centre’s scheme for declaration of black money till September 30 has generated overwhelming response from the taxpayers in the Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh as the region has exposed black money to the tune of estimated Rs 1500 crore.
IT offices in the region remained open till midnight as taxpayers kept lining up ahead of the stipulated deadline which ended on last night. The IT officers remained busy compiling the information of black money as Union finance minister Arun Jaitley is expected to declare tax recovery figures region wise later in the day.

Bhopal is said to have exposed black money in excess of Rs 500 crore.
Major cities in the region –Bhopal, Indore and Raipur, reportedly have exposed maximum black money finished almost at par with each other in terms of income declaration. Most of the major cities including Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Gwalior, Ujjian, Sagar and others saw serpentine queues at IT offices last evening.
IT officers also had tough time uploading income declaration forms received from smaller cities on the IT server till late night.
MP&CG Chief Income Tax Commissioner Abrar Ahmed told newsmen that black money has been raining in Madhya Pradesh, especially in the last few days of the scheme when people thronged IT offices for declaring their unaccounted income.
Ahmed made it clear that the department was in possession of concrete evidences against tax defaulters and would soon launch massive action against those who are hiding black money. The numbers of taxpayers have risen from 15 to 23%, said the IT boss.
Sources claim that the department has prepared nationwide list of black money holders and would shortly launch raids on these persons and would follow this action with prosecution.
Meanwhile, as action has concluded against Punjab Jewellers, nearly 400 Audi owners in the state are now under IT scanner for their high-profile purchase. The jeweller concerned is the master dealer for this German luxury brand of car in Madhya Pradesh.
