MP: Government claims 82% CM announcements completed, Congress differs

BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan reportedly makes at least three announcements per day, making them a total over 1,100 in a year. However, the government claims that 82 per cent of the announcements made in his present term have been implemented.
In his current term beginning from December 2013, Chouhan has made about 5,150 announcements. Of them, about 2,400 are yet to be completed, which means the work is in progress.
While the BJP leaders are happy with the figures, Congress terms the statistics fake and misleading.
Interestingly, announcement in which the work has just started is also counted as completed by the government. The issue is in focus because assembly polls are to be held in the state by year-end.
MP government claims it is not that CM is just making announcements. The announcements are also getting implemented on ground.
If the data of MP government is to be believed, 82 per cent of his announcements made in past four and half years have been fulfilled. It means, around 4,200 announcements have been implemented by different departments while about 1,000 schemes or projects are pending or yet to take off after announcement.
The figure of completed announcements comes after including the announcements in which the work has been started that are around 2400 announcements.
In department-wise CM’s announcements, water resources, school education and panchayat and gramin vikas are among the top three with maximum pendency rate.
As many as 97 announcements are pending in water resources department, 77 in school education and 57 in panchayat and gramin vikas department.
But the departments with maximum pendency are not the ones in which CM made maximum announcement.
As per the government record on announcement, a copy of which is with TOI, CM made a maximum 706 announcements in urban development and housing department, followed by public works department (555) and panchayat and gramin vikas with 495 announcements.
Announcements are generally the local development works which CM makes in his addresses during visits in the state.
